Fairy Bush Killary Harbour

This photograph is of fairy bush located on the on the shores of Killary Harbour, Connamera, Co. Galway. This is an Irish tradition whereby rags were tied to these bushes in the belief that if a piece of clothing from someone who was ill, or had a problem, was tied to the branches the problem or illness would disappear as the rag rotted. These Rag Bushes can be found in various locations throughout the Island of Ireland.
